Internet of Things Value Creation NetworkThe IoT Value Creation Network brings together
key stakeholders from a variety of sectors (research institutions, trade and industry, policymakers/government agencies and other users) in Norway to work jointly towards a common vision of the Internet of Things.
The aim is to unify the IoT community in Norway, going across boundaries of disparate technology sectors, in order to create a joint strategic vision of the Internet of Things and aligning this vision with the current developments on the Future Internet and IoT at European and Global level. The IoT Network will address the Internet of Things thematic priority area. It will support and actively implement a national technology arena and a meeting place for developing new ideas, identifying national key research challenges, and disseminating research results across sectors. The network is important for promoting value creation and internationalisation in Norwegian ICT researches. It forms a national arena that will facilitate IoT adoption, innovation and create value for the end users by enhancing the efficiency and profitability of existing and future business solutions. The IoT network creates the framework for Norwegian industry and public sector to address early a strategic and important technology for the national arena with the participation of companies representing industry, trade, services, research, academia and the public sector.
The IoT Value Creation Network brings together the stakeholders involved in the development of the novel IoT technology needed to address the emerging challenges of public health, aging population, environmental protection and climate change, the conservation of energy and scarce materials, enhancements to safety and security and the continuation and growth of economic prosperity. The network aims as well to help small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to develop and/or adopt IoT technology for business growth and sustainability. IoT Network cooperates strongly with the international end user communities and bring Best Practice to Norway and vice versa. | Internet of ThingsInternet of Things (IoT) is one of the most important areas of a Future Internet with significant potential to positively impact the Norwegian economy and society.
The current IoT research community is featuring divergent approaches and technologies. This sometimes leads to a lack of coherency that hinders the realisation of an interoperable IoT, preventing the IoT to achieve its full potential. The IoT technology forms the “middleware” between the implementation of the “grand challenges” of climate change, energy efficiency, mobility, digital society, health at the European level and the enabling technologies such as nano-electronics, communications, sensors, smart phones, embedded systems, cloud computing and software technologies. This middleware will create new products, new services, new interfaces and new applications addressing the implementation of the “grand challenges” by creating smart environments and smart spaces. |
